Volvo XC90 features Delphi’s RACam system, enabling a wide range of active safety features

October 2, 2014 – Delphi Automotive PLC (NYSE:DLPH) is helping Volvo Cars offer the most comprehensive and technologically-sophisticated standard safety package available in the automotive industry. Set for debut at the Mondial de l’Automobile in Paris (Oct. 4-19), the Volvo XC90 is the first car in the world to feature automatic braking at intersections.

The system uses Delphi's industry-first and award-winning integrated Radar and Camera Sensor Fusion System (RACam). RACam incorporates radar sensing, vision sensing and data fusion in a single module that enables adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, forward collision warning, and autonomous braking for pedestrians, vehicles, animals and general objects. The XC90 also features Delphi’s second generation 76GHz short range radar, which enables blind spot detection, lane change merge aid and cross traffic alert.
