Federal-Mogul Showcases Components for More Efficient and Safer Railway Applications at InnoTrans 2016
Product portfolio includes systems protection and braking friction products, piston rings, sealing and bearing solutions
Glinde/Wiesbaden, Germany 27 July 2016… Federal-Mogul Motorparts and Federal-Mogul Powertrain, the two divisions of Federal-Mogul Holdings Corporation (NASDAQ: FDML), will present their product portfolio for railway applications at Innotrans 2016 (Hall 1.2, Booth 215). The exhibit will feature two world debuts: Expando B150®, an advanced systems protection sleeving design that significantly reduces the assembly time for long lengths of cables and the launch of next-generation composite brake blocks Jurid 822 and Jurid 847 for freight wagons. The company will also showcase its large bore engine piston ring portfolio, industrial bearings and oil and grease seals.
Federal-Mogul draws from its knowledge and experience supporting other markets - such as light and commercial vehicles, marine and aerospace - to deliver products for the railway market. “Like the automotive market, the rail industry is constantly evolving,” said Martin Hendricks, President Global Braking and Regional President EMEA, Federal-Mogul Motorparts. “With our history of developing high-quality and reliable components, we are in a unique position to help our rail customers meet their dynamic driving behaviour, safety and efficiency goals, as well as regulatory and environmental targets.”
Federal-Mogul Motorparts will present two new railway brake block friction materials for freight wagon applications. Jurid 822, a K-block friction material, is a comprehensive evolution of the market-proven Jurid 816M product and provides a K-block solution for state-of-the-art, single-sided 1x Bgu braked freight wagons. Jurid 847, a new LL brake block, enables freight wagons originally equipped with cast iron blocks to comply with EU noise legislation. It is completely interchangeable with the original cast iron blocks and provides a noise abatement solution for over 400,000 effected wagons in Europe. The LL blocks reduce noise and wear rates while maintaining the same friction performance.
Under its BentleyHarris®brand, Federal-Mogul Powertrain will present its latest systems protection sleeving solution, Expando B150. This cable protection product is constructed with an expandable fabric that provides unique installation features to efficiently assemble and bundle wire harnesses. Available in three sizes that meet the full spectrum of wire harness diameters, the lightweight construction offers a fast, flexible and user-friendly alternative to traditional tying methods. Expando B150 can be delivered with tools that help to compress the sleeve and minimize installation time.
Federal-Mogul Powertrain will also present its new standard deva.tex®spherical bearings from 25 to 280 mm diameter, according to ISO 12240-1. The deva.tex standard spherical bearings offer the same benefits as the customized spherical bearings, including a machinable sliding layer, high corrosion and wear-resistance and are all impervious to contamination, vibrations and shock loads. Since these components will be available on stock, customers can order the spherical bearings that offer greater flexibiity with a significantly shortened delivery time.
Federal-Mogul Powertrain’s National®oil and grease seals for railway applications are used on freight wagon and locomotive axle wheel ends. The brand’s target rail customers are the major anti-friction bearing manufacturers, who assemble wheel end cartridges/modules and install them onto the axle. During InnoTrans, the company will highlight its standard Gen II seals, as well as the new low-torque design seals in various sizes, including classes E, F, G, GG and K.
Piston rings for marine, rail and industrial applications will complement Federal-Mogul’s product range at InnoTrans. Based on the highest automotive manufacturing standards and with knowledge and experience gained over generations, cast iron or steel piston rings from Federal-Mogul Powertrain meet customers’ expectations from all over the world. The company’s piston ring portfolio includes - besides those for combustion engines - also rings for compressors, pumps, transmissions and various hydraulic applications. Federal-Mogul produces and sells its piston ring portfolio under its GOETZE®and Daros®brands.
Federal-Mogul will present its product portfolio for rail applications at InnoTrans in Berlin from September 20thto 23rd2016 in hall 1.2, stand 215.
