One of the primary goals of the World Balloon Convention is to further the education of everyone working in the balloon industry.

The 2016 World Balloon Convention was held in New Orleans from April 6 – 9, and it hosted more than 900 attendees from 60 countries. During the four-day conference international teams and individual members competed head to head in several competitive categories. 2016 World Balloon Convention winners include Russia for first place in the large sculpture category, Hong Kong for first place in the Medium Sculpture category, Kanako Takahashi from Japan for first place in Parade Fashion, Valter Saladino from Italy placed first in the Balloon Column category and Lee Cheng Feng from Taiwan won first place in the Window Display category.
