Metsä-Serla's Annual General Meeting resolved today that the company's new name
is M-real Oyj in Finnish and M-real Corporation in English. The new name will
go into official use after it is entered in the Trade Register approximately on
6 April 2001.
M-real will be introduced as the new company name and corporate identity at all
Metsä-Serla, Modo Paper, UK Paper and Biberist units. M-real will not, however,
come into use in the company's paper merchanting business, which will operate
in line with its own identity. Nor will the change affect Metsä-Tissue
Corporation or Zanders Feinpapiere AG.
The new name M-real is a logical step in implementing the company's strategy,
by virtue of which M-real will become a new kind of paper and packaging company
with a stronger end user focus. In connection with the brand remake, the M-real
company name will assume the position of a common denominator alongside the
company's product names.
