Metsä Group to enhance the efficiency of its Kerto® and plywood mills
Metsä Group press release 6/11/2015 at 10 EET
Metsä Wood, the wood product business of Metsä Group, will start statutory labour negotiations to implement a new target organisation model at all of its Kerto® and plywood mills. The negotiations are part of the performance improvement programme announced last year. The programme aims for further improvements in production excellence as part of the industrial efficiency strategy and increased labour flexibility at production units in Finland. Metsä Wood’s sawmills adopted the new organisational structure in spring 2015.
The implementation of the target organisation is estimated to result in a need to reduce labour by a total of approximately 60 persons. The statutory labour negotiations are expected to be completed in January 2016, and any employee reductions will primarily be implemented during the first quarter of 2016.
