NCC Construction Sweden has been commissioned to construct the Clarion Hotel at Stockholm Arlanda Airport. The client and property owner is the state-owned LFV Group (Swedish Airports and Air Navigation Services) and the hotel will be operated by Choice Hotels Scandinavia AS. The project will be implemented on a partnering basis and the order is worth approximately SEK 545 million.

The new hotel will have 400 rooms and will be a first-rate business hotel with a distinct and exclusive design profile. “Stockholm Airport City can now continue to develop positively despite the prevailing economic climate. Clarion Hotel Arlanda will improve service for travelers and businesses in the region,” says Stefan Stenberg, Head of LFV Stockholm-Arlanda Real Estate. The hotel will be constructed close to the control tower and be linked to Sky City and the airport terminals. NCC’s organization and creativity were of particular importance to securing the contract, as was implementing the project in close cooperation with the client. “Close cooperation with LFV, Choice Hotels, our consultants and the subcontractors means that the conditions for building an attractive business hotel are excellent,” says Svante Hagman, Regional Manager Stockholm/Mälardalen at NCC Construction Sverige. Project design will commence at the beginning of January 2010 and initial ground work will begin in August of the same year. The hotel is scheduled to open in November 2012. An average of 150 employees will be involved in the construction process and the order will be registered during the fourth quarter of 2009. Partnering is a structured cooperation format, whereby the developer, consultants and contractor jointly resolve construction issues. The method is based on open and reliable cooperation in which the professional skills of the partners complement each other throughout all phases of the project.
