WHO:           Pastor Corey Brooks and Project HOOD

WHERE:     Washington Park

Known as the Rooftop Preacher, Pastor Corey Brooks and Project HOOD, in conjunction with the City of Chicago are hosting the Safe and Healthy Summer 5K Walk/10K Run in Washington Park in an effort to promote Peace, Safety and Healthy living in Chicago.  With Fleet Feet Sports as the event consultant and a primary sponsor, this event is poised to be the kick-off of Chicago’s safest summer, countering the staggering violent murder rate of 500 plus murders last year.

Immediately following the walk and run, a FESTIVE afternoon in Washington Park is planned; several vendors are expected to participate from food, general products, safety and health.  Entertainment for children and adults is going to be ongoing throughout the park.

In lieu of the terrorist attack on the Boston Marathon, Pastor Brooks and Project HOOD have committed a portion of the proceeds to go to Hope Mob www.hopemob.org for the betterment of the victims of this horrific attack.  Pastor Brooks and Project HOOD have been relentless in the pursuit of a non-violent Woodlawn and Englewood, where in times past, violence was all too common with no attention, no awareness or action to stop it!

Pastor Brooks believes, through collaboration, the galvanizing of the private and public sectors, a difference can be made.  Pastor Brooks and Project HOOD are attempting to raise $15M to build a new community center on the south side of Chicago to provide a safe haven through constructive social programs already enacted.  Project HOOD is charged with stopping violence one neighborhood at a time by Helping Others Obtain their Destiny!

Race participants, individuals and corporate groups, are being asked to go to www.projecthood.org to register for the 5KWalk or 10KRun or to inquire about sponsorship and vending opportunities.
