NEXT's Charitable Efforts Fight Domestic Hunger

HOUSTON- NEXT Financial Group Inc.’s (NEXT) latest philanthropic cookbook project helped provide delicious meals to the tables of many homes across the country this holiday season, including those who are less fortunate.

Throughout the 2015 year, the Houston based independent broker-dealer’s Home Office, Representatives and Support Staff provided over 60 recipes for salads, small bites, entrees and more to be included in its first-ever collective cookbook. The book was released in early December and priced at $15 per copy. All of the proceeds received from the cookbook were donated directly toward fighting domestic hunger, with one book providing 330 meals for hungry Americans.

“We wanted to give back to our community in a way that would also bring our NEXT family together,” said Barry Knight, President of NEXT. “Our company culture is one that focuses on camaraderie, and there is no better way to connect than by collectively helping those in need.”

In an effort to further assist the public, NEXT’s Home Office also supplemented these actions to alleviate food insecurity by hosting an in-office food drive. Canned goods, bottled juices and other non-perishable items were collected throughout the month of October to support hunger-relief in the Greater Houston area. Over 2,500 items were donated to the Houston Food Bank, which provided plenty of meals for the local area’s less fortunate in time for Thanksgiving.

These firm-wide, charitable efforts raised $4,400 to fight domestic hunger and provide almost 100,000 meals to those in need during the holiday season. NEXT looks forward to making just as big of an impact in 2016 and beyond in a continued fight to support hunger-relief across the United States.
