Nobina restructures Swebus

During the spring, Nobina initiated a strategic review of its operations in interregional bus services. As a result of this review, Nobina sees an opportunity to integrate Swebus’ operations into Nobina Sweden. In conjunction with the proposed changes, Swebus’ Managing Director, Joakim Palmkvist, is leaving the Group.

Swebus will remain an independent company within the Group. Coordination with Nobina Sweden’s existing activities will create cost efficiency in areas such as operations, planning and traffic management. As a consequence of the proposed restructuring, Nobina expects a need to accrue for nonrecurring expenses of SEK 15 million for the second quarter.

“By integrating Swebus into Nobina Sweden, we see opportunities for Swebus to grow and develop its position as market leader. We can see clear synergies that we wish to realise between Nobina Sweden’s regional operations and Swebus’ interregional business. Swebus is a strong brand that we want to continue to manage in the best possible way,” says Nobina’s President and CEO Magnus Rosén.

“Joakim Palmkvist has been a great asset to Swebus and Nobina and I would like to thank Joakim for his contributions over the years. Joakim will be available during a transitional period, but in order for Swebus to take the next step as quickly as possible, Tomas Hansson, Finance Director at Nobina Sweden, has been appointed to lead the restructuring,” says Magnus Rosén, President and CEO of Nobina.

Negotiations with trade unions will begin in August.
