Nobina has been entrusted once more by Sörmlandstrafiken to continue to develop and operate bus services in Sörmland province. The total value of the contracts is estimated at about SEK 2.6 billion over the contract period, which is ten years. Traffic is scheduled to start in August 2019 and comprises a total of 145 buses.

Nobina is expanding its position and ability to offer complete solutions for electric buses in the Swedish market and is contributing to quieter and cleaner public transport services. As part of the new contract, city transport in Nyköping, Katrineholm and Flen will be operated using solely electric buses. The initiative is part of Sörmlandstrafiken’s distinct focus on emission and fossil fuel-free public transport services.

“We are proud that we continue to enjoy the confidence of Sörmlandstrafiken. This allows us to continue to develop services in Sörmland while also contributing to quieter and cleaner public transport services as we now introduce electric buses on a larger scale,” says Jan Bosaeus, CEO of Nobina Sweden.

The tender process had a strong focus on customer satisfaction and punctuality, with clear incentives to gain more passengers, who are more satisfied, and that all vehicles will be fossil-free as well as providing access to Wi-Fi and to USB charging.

The award decision can be appealed until 14 May 2018.
