Nobina Finland has won a tender comprising 94 buses for HSL (Helsinki Region Transport). The service contracts run for periods of two and seven years, respectively, with the option of an extension of up to three years. The estimated total value is in excess of EUR 80 million over the initial contract period (before optional years). The new service will commence on August 10, 2015.

The decision by HSL means that Nobina will operate routes in the Vantaa region of Helsinki, with an increase of 61 buses, compared with existing contracts. The tender outcome may be appealed until December 9.

“We are very pleased by the continued confidence in Nobina shown by HSL. The successful tender outcome will increase our contract portfolio in Finland substantially. This achievement is largely attributable to economies of scale, since we will use more than 50 existing buses, which have been made available for this service assignment,” says Ragnar Norbäck, President and CEO of the Nobina group.

As a result of the contract win, Nobina will invest in approximately 40 new buses. The remaining buses will be reallocated from existing bus fleets in Finland and Norway.
