  • All-star Danish cast headlines psychological crime drama
  • ‘Face to Face’ will premiere exclusively on Viaplay in late 2019
  • NENT Group set to premiere 20 original productions every year

Danish crime drama ‘Face to Face’ is the next original production from Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT Group). The eight part series brings together some of Denmark’s leading creative talents and will premiere across the Nordic region in late 2019 exclusively on NENT Group’s Viaplay streaming service.

Over the course of one day, Danish police detective Bjørn Rasmussen (Ulrich Thomsen: ‘Counterpart’; ‘The Blacklist’) interrogates the suspects in the mysterious murder of his own daughter. Both the stakes and the suspense rise relentlessly as Bjørn inches closer to the truth – but is it one he wants to know?

‘Face to Face’ (Danish title: ‘Forhøret’; Swedish title: ‘Förhöret’) co-stars Lars Mikkelsen (‘House of Cards’), Nikolaj Lie Kaas (‘A Conspiracy of Faith’), Trine Dyrholm (‘Love Is All You Need’), Søren Malling (NENT Group’s ‘Rig 45’), Lars Ranthe (NENT Group’s ‘Pros and Cons’) and David Dencik (‘Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy’). Filming begins this week in Copenhagen.

The series is directed by Christoffer Boe (‘Kriger’; ‘The Purity of Vengeance’), who co-writes with Jakob Weis (‘That Time of Year’). Jonas Allen and Peter Bose produce the show for Miso Film, the Copenhagen-based production company behind NENT Group’s original series ‘Darkness – Those Who Kill’, which premieres on Viaplay on 1 March. Fremantle will distribute ‘Face to Face’ internationally.

Jakob Mejlhede Andersen, NENT Group EVP and Head of Content: “Our originals have been hugely successful in Denmark and across the Nordic region, and now we’re assembling a Danish dream team to create ‘Face to Face’ and ask just how intense a crime series can be. This is a minimalist drama of maximum suspense, where every glance and every word are full of meaning, and it shows our commitment to establishing Viaplay as the home of truly unique viewer experiences.”

NENT Group is set to premiere 20 original productions every year. ‘The Truth Will Out’; ‘Four Hands Menu’; ‘Pros and Cons’; ‘Conspiracy of Silence’; ‘Couple Trouble’; ‘Rig 45’; ‘The Lawyer’; ‘Stella Blómkvist’; season one of ‘ALEX’; ‘Couple Thinkers’; ‘Occupied’; ‘Hassel’; ‘Peppy Pals’; ‘Superswede’; ‘Veni Vidi Vici’; seasons one and two of ‘Swedish Dicks’; seasons one and two of ‘The Great Escape’; and seasons one and two of ‘Black Lake’ have already premiered.

Recently announced originals include ‘Casper Conquers Norway’; ‘Honour’; ‘Love Me’; season two of ‘ALEX’; ‘Saga’s Stories’; ‘The Inner Circle’; ‘Cold Courage’; ‘Darkness – Those Who Kill’; ‘Hidden’; ‘Wisting’; and ‘Straight Forward’.

As well as breaking Nordic viewing records, NENT Group’s originals are increasingly reaching audiences around the world. ‘ALEX’ has been sold to broadcast and streaming partners in Europe, Asia and the US; ‘Veni Vidi Vici’ has premiered on Hulu; ‘Swedish Dicks’ on Pop TV in the US; ‘Black Lake’ has been shown on BBC Four and AMC Networks-backed Shudder; and the upcoming series ‘Honour’ has been sold to Belgium’s VRT.

In January 2019, NENT Group announced a UK-based joint venture with award-winning independent studio FilmNation Entertainment to develop, produce and finance premium scripted television content for global audiences.
