Melville, NY – May 2, 2013 – North American Partners in Anesthesia (NAPA), the leading single specialty anesthesia and perioperative management company in the United States, announced today that Deputy CEO and Chief Medical Officer John Di Capua, M.D., was recognized by Long Island Business News in its  “Who’s Who in Health Care” special section on April 19, 2013.  The weekly business journal based in Ronkonkoma, New York, runs this special feature on an annual basis.

The health care industry is one of the fastest changing industries in the world, with Long Island home to some of its most visionary leaders. In his profile, Dr. Di Capua discusses NAPA’s plans to concentrate resources on developing an independent software platform that will capture electronic medical information within the OR setting. Board certified in anesthesia and pain management, Dr. Di Capua joined the North Shore –LIJ Health System in 1994 where he sits as the Peter F. R. Walker Associate Professor and Chairman of the Department of Anesthesiology at North Shore University Hospital, Long Island Jewish Medical Center and the recently opened Hofstra-NSLIJ School of Medicine.  As the Chief Medical Officer of NAPA, Dr. Di Capua supervises over 1,000 anesthesia providers in 38 hospitals covering over 700,000 anesthesia cases per year.

Dr. Di Capua trained in anesthesiology at Massachusetts General Hospital, followed by fellowships in pain management and cardiothoracic anesthesia. He was on the faculty of Harvard Medical School for a year before joining the North Shore –LIJ Health System. He is integrally involved in the issues of perioperative operational management, clinical staffing models and lectures nationally on how anesthesia departments can provide quality and operational value to hospitals.
