North American Partners in Anesthesia’s Sonia Szlyk, M.D., will be a featured speaker to over 1,000 healthcare providers at the Orthopaedic Summit 2015: Evolving Techniques - Sports Medicine, Arthroscopic Surgery & Arthroplasty, which will be held December 2-5, 2015 at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas, NV. Dr. Szlyk will be presenting three lectures related to regional anesthesia over the course of the premier conference. This is the third consecutive year she will serve on the event’s speaker panel.

Spotlight Session:  Fast-tracking your Patients with a Regional Anesthesia Block Program 
Thursday, December 3

In this session, Dr. Szlyk will discuss how a robust regional anesthesia service strategically facilitates early recovery after surgery (ERAS) and promotes operating room efficiency. This is a joint presentation with two orthopaedic surgeons whose patients benefit from nerve block catheters for rotator cuff repair, total shoulder replacement, ACL repair and total knee replacement.

Podium Presentation: Ultrasound-guided Nerve Blocks for Outpatient Surgery
Friday, December 4

During this presentation, Dr. Szlyk will highlight advances in ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia that allow more complex orthopaedic procedures to be performed in an outpatient setting. Among the topics to be discussed will be the utilization of nerve block catheters for patients undergoing shoulder and knee surgery.

Podium Presentation: Evolving Technique Update: Pain Relief Post Hip Arthroscopy: The Lumbar Plexus Block
Saturday, December 5

Dr. Szlyk will review indications and considerations for the lumbar plexus block pertinent to postoperative pain control for hip arthroscopy patients.

Sonia Szlyk, M.D., is the Director of Regional Anesthesia, NAPA Mid-Atlantic. She has served as a clinical instructor in regional anesthesia at Stanford University Hospital in Stanford, CA. Dr. Szlyk is an accomplished lecturer and educator specializing in ultrasound-guided peripheral nerve blocks and catheters. She is board-certified in anesthesiology and an active member of the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, and the American Society of Anesthesiologists.
