Nynas has been invited to take part in a panel discussion about which oils create the best results when it comes to extending the useful life of transformers.

On 11-12 April, TechCon South East Asia (SEA) will be taking place in Malaysia’s capital city of Kuala Lumpur. It is one of the most important industry events in the region and target key audiences will be various utility and power grid companies, including the State-run Indonesian electricity distributor PLN, the Thai energy company EGAT and the main Malaysian energy provider TNB.

One dominant feature of this kind of industry gathering is technical presentations from suppliers and manufacturers. The organisers of TechCon SEA have chosen instead to invite a number of leading players – including Shell, Cargill and Nynas – to a panel discussion under the heading of “Life Extension – Better with Mineral Oil or Ester?”, which also allows scope for questions from the audience. Taking part from Nynas is Chian Yaw Toh, Head of Technical Development & Market Support Asia Pacific.

“I’ll be emphasising the benefits of naphthenic mineral oil,” he says. “These include, for example, low viscosity and high heat transfer for effective and efficient cooling properties, as well as excellent oxidation properties when in use, high solvency for carrying polar oxidised products and faster impregnation of insulation paper.” As well as taking part in the panel discussion, Nynas will have a stand in the exhibition that also forms part of TechCon SEA 2017. It is a good way of presenting Nynas’ offering in more detail, and meeting up and sharing experiences with both existing and potential customers as well as other stakeholders.

“TechCon SEA is an excellent opportunity to show our continuous presence in this region, especially with competition having intensified recently. This means that we can continue to showcase and create awareness of Nynas’ branding, close to end users and the market in the region, and the importance of using quality naphthenic oil in transformers,” concludes Chian Yaw Toh.
