2014 OLI annual report recaps "See Tracks? Think Train!" campaign, other activities

WASHINGTON, D.C., May 5, 2015 – Operation Lifesaver, Inc. (OLI), the rail safety education nonprofit, today released its 2014 annual report, which provides an update on the launch and progress of the See Tracks? Think Train! national safety education campaign and other accomplishments, according to President and CEO Joyce Rose.

The activities detailed in OLI’s annual report include:

  • The launch of Operation Lifesaver’s See Tracks? Think Train! campaign to a total potential audience of 225 million people nationwide, with the assistance of the Association of American Railroads (AAR), Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and Federal Transit Administration (FTA);
  • Direct, face-to-face contact with an additional 2.3 million people through Operation Lifesaver’s free volunteer safety presentations and special safety events in communities across the U.S.;
  • Planning of and participation in high-profile events, including the Operation Lifesaver Leadership Conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico, National Train Day celebrations and observance of International Level Crossing Awareness Day in multiple states;
  • The continued rollout of Operation Lifesaver’s new Authorized Volunteer program and online database to track safety activities by OLI’s national network of volunteers;
  • Sustained growth in visitors to OLI’s website and of followers on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest;
  • Completion of a new home page for Operation Lifesaver’s www.oli.org website;
  • A new online School Bus Driver e-Learning program, an award-winning interactive experience for public and private school bus drivers to prepare them to safely navigate railroad crossings on their daily routes;
  • The distribution of grants from the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and Federal Transit Administration (FTA) to expand the See Tracks? Think Train! safety campaign and other activities in cities and states around the U.S.;
  • Expanding partnerships for safety initiatives with AAR, the American Public Transportation Association, the Association of Mexican Railroads, the U.S. Department of Transportation and its agencies.

“Our See Tracks? Think Train! campaign launch was the highlight of another busy year for Operation Lifesaver,” said Rose. “We are fortunate to work with safety partners who share our commitment to reducing deaths and injuries from vehicle-train collisions and pedestrian rail trespass incidents.”
