Finnish basketball player wins the Paf Poker Challenge 2015 on Åland

The Finnish basketball player Eero Lehtinen won the weekend’s big poker tournament the Paf Poker Challenge 2015 on Åland. His prize for first place was 33,000 euros.

A total of 145 poker players from nine nations took part in this year's edition of the Paf Poker Challenge. The tournament was held between 14-17 May at Paf Casino and Hotel Arkipelag in Mariehamn.

The winner Eero Lehtinen, who is a professional basketball player for the Helsinki Seagulls in the Finnish Basketball League, was taking part in the tournament for the second year in a row. Last year, he finished sixth and won 7000 euros.

"It feels really good that I managed to take home the top spot at Paf Poker Challenge 2015. I started as an underdog on the final table, so it was a long hard game for me. Not least because I was the up against the tournament's best player Kristian Johansson in the final table head-to-head," says a delighted Eero Lehtinen.

Second place in the Paf Poker Challenge went to Ålander Kristian Johansson, who won 20,300 euros in prize money for his impressive weekend. Third place and 14,350 euros prize money went to Tony Kennheden from Sweden.

"We are extremely pleased with this year's Paf Poker Challenge. This year the tournament was attended by players from Åland, Finland, Sweden, Estonia, Belgium, Ireland, Canada, Hungary, Poland and Greece, which shows that the international interest in Paf Poker Challenge increases with each passing year. We see it as proof that we are offering something unique in the poker world. It’s not just about poker, but also the overall experience as a visit to Åland means so much for many of our guests from far away”, says Johan Mattsson, event director for Paf Poker Challenge.
