Parans system contributes to finals for the most innovative project in Holland

Parans has earlier this year (see Swedish press release 180719) announced that Parans has received a formal approval from the end customer of the international consortium Comol5, which runs the innovative Rijnlandstunnel infrastructure project in the Netherlands, where the deal for Parans will amount to approximately 20 million SEK. Last week, the innovation coordinator of one of the companies in the consortium received the notification that the tunnel project became one of the finalists in The Challenge Engineering 2018, thanks to the fact that Parans' SP4 system will be installed in the tunnel.

Croonwolter & Dros, one of the engineering companies in the consortium behind the tunnel project, announced last week that their innovation coordinator Onno Sminia had been appointed as one of three finalists in the Dutch competition The Challenge Engineering 2018 for the "Energy-neutral tunnel" project. The jury noticed and especially praised the innovation of using natural light via fiber optics (Parans' comment: the Parans system) to illuminate the tunnel. For The Challenge 2018, sustainability is a key issue.

- It is very inspiring that the reason for the final place is the Parans system, which will contribute to both the innovative and the sustainable aspect of the tunnel project, says Anders Koritz, CEO at Parans. This is a proof for the high innovation level for a tunnel project, and through the attention of the same, this will be able to spread, as we and the customer wants.

About the project Rijnlandstunnel, the Netherlands

The end customer of the innovative Rijnlandstunnel infrastructure project is a state authority in the Netherlands.

The Parans system will provide the first approximately 80 meters with natural light in both ends of the tunnel. Days when it's bright sunshine, drivers get a better and more natural transition between the bright outside and the darkness of the tunnel. The technology generally used today is based solely on artificial lighting to control the intensity of light the first approximately 100 meters. By using the Parans system instead of artificial lighting on sunny days, much energy can be saved and the reduced energy consumption gives a positive impact on the environment.

Studies show the importance of good light in the first part of the tunnel to increase road safety and reduce the number of accidents. The project may come to affect current building standards for lighting tunnels where Parans' flexible and innovative solution is capable of leading natural light in large quantities to areas that are otherwise not possible to reach with natural light.
