Patheon Inc., a leading provider of contract development and commercial manufacturing services to the global pharmaceutical industry, will participate at DCAT Week in New York, N.Y., March 10-13, 2014.  During DCAT Week, Patheon will participate in high-level strategic meetings with customers and suppliers.

Patheon’s Dr. Anil Kane, executive director, global formulation sciences, PDS, will present “Quality by Design: A Contractor Organization’s Perspective” on Wednesday, March 12 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Astor Room at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel. Quality-by-Design (QbD) is a useful tool to enhance quality, reduce risks and capitalize opportunities. The benefits of QbD have been quite obvious and are raising the expectations between sponsor companies and contract service providers. Kane will examine the opportunities in QbD projects, including the challenges in implementing QbD from a contractor’s perspectives as well as case-study examples in formulation development and finished drug-product manufacturing.

Concurrent to the DCAT events, Patheon will attend the CMO Leadership Awards Reception and Ceremony hosted by Life Science Leader. Patheon is among the few companies that won four out of the five categories: Quality, Innovation, Productivity and Reliability. The CMO Leadership Awards are based on industry research conducted by Nice Insight.

DCAT Week is one of the largest gatherings for the pharmaceutical and related industries in the world. Its unique model brings industry CEOs, presidents, global sales managers and directors of supply chain management from around the globe for high-level meetings, strategy sessions, education programs and networking events.
