PAYNOVA RAISES THE TEMPO OF ITS EUROPEAN LAUNCH

Paynova’s network of partners in Germany, France and the BeNeLux countries is ready to begin marketing services now that the technical installations have been completed. The foundation for achieving large volumes on the European market has been laid. The Paynova Board, together with the company’s partners, has decided to immediately raise the tempo through joint market canvassing. Further extension of the strategic partner network will take place through negotiation with several payment-processing companies and banks.

In addition to direct sales and marketing activities, Paynova’s strategy for establishing payment services and achieving large transaction volumes on the European e-market is to build up a strong network alongside selected payment-processing companies, known as Payment Service Providers (PSP). Important steps in this campaign were the agreements signed earlier this year with the German company GZS/easycash, the French company Paybox and the Dutch company Triple Deal. Around 5,000 e-retailers are already connected to this network, each with their own customers and their consumers. Paynova can reach them direct by virtue of the fact that the electronic payment solution is integrated in the payment-processing companies’ interface with the e-retailers.

The agreed cooperation with GZS/easycash in Germany has been put into operation in technical terms, and marketing aimed at e-retailers will begin in September. In 2003 GZS dealt with a total of 617 million electronic and physical transactions worth EUR 40 billion.

In France, Paybox is ready to offer Paynova’s payment solution to its connected e-retailers. This development was speeded up during the latter part of the summer, due to Paynova’s French subsidiary assisting with a share of the work.

Paynova France EUR is wholly owned by Paynova and has to date – i.e. until there was an opportunity to offer finished installations – concluded agreements with 21 e-retailers in France. Joint marketing preparations are ongoing between Paynova France and Paybox in order to make headway with the transaction volumes during the autumn.

"It’s great to be under way in Germany and France. The markets here are so big that we are switching to another, higher volume dimension," says Pelle Hjortblad, Paynova CEO. "In Holland the installation went through quickly. It wasn’t until 22 July that the agreement with Triple Deal was ready, which shows how anxious both partners were to get going, but it also shows that we have learnt something from earlier implementations." Marketing preparations are ongoing between Paynova France and Paybox in order to make headway with the transaction volumes during the autumn.

In order to meet European customers’ requirements for fast technical installations and a quick commercial launch, two new management level employees, Michel Vis, 49, and Karl Alberts, 45, were recruited during the summer. Both have extensive experience of international marketing, electronic payment services and contacts with important European players such as banks and payment-processing companies. Both come from management posts at Netgiro Systems AB, a well-established international payment-processing company dating from the end of the 90s.
