Perimeter Protection Group celebrates its second anniversary

The separation of the Perimeter Protection Group from the Swedish Gunnebo Group is now about 2 years ago. The Perimeter Protection Group (PPG) is one of the world-leading companies in its sector, focused on developing, manufacturing and selling outdoor perimeter protection products and systems, including high security products, fences and gates, with core focus on the Nordics, Germany and France, but with a global distribution network. Its customers include embassies, military installations and airports as well as schools, public institutions and private households. The group has a turnover of about MEUR 80.

On July 25th2011 Procuritas Capital Investors IV took over the company. Procuritas Capital Investors IV is a private equity fund focusing on mid-sized companies in the Nordic Region. Founded in 1986, the company was the pioneer in introducing the concept of management buyouts in the Nordic region. The Perimeter Protection Group is the eighth investment by PCI IV. The equity fund is advised by Procuritas AB and Procuritas Partners GmbH. Procuritas is specialized in initiating, structuring, and financing management buyouts. The investor was aware of the enormous business potential and the acquisition of PPG enabled an intensive concentration on the core business. It was a challenge to split off the production and the administration of three other European countries from the Gunnebo Group and bring everything together forming the Perimeter Protection Group.

Now - two years later – the Perimeter Protection Group proudly sums up that the preset objectives were achieved. Now the 6 starting countries have become 9. With legal companies in Germany, France, Switzerland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Estonia, Russia and with a worldwide export department on top the Perimeter Protection Group can proudly and without doubt call itself one of Europe’s leading companies in the perimeter protection sector.

But this is still not all. The company is also looking back at some highlights such as innovative product developments, important certifications and a successful bollard crash test. Thus, e.g. the outdoor detection systems have been certified by the BHE (Federal Association of Manufacturers and installers of security systems in Germany). The certificate is preceded by a rigorous examination of high value and quality of products and solutions. Also the staff is tested on professional competence and expertise. The certificate

guarantees the use of the latest technology and assures compliance with all relevant standards and regulations in planning, construction and maintenance. Moreover, it confirms regular training of staff as well as the training of the individual customer and of course understandable manuals. Furthermore, the creation of an installation certificate, an offer of a maintenance contract and an always available service department is required.

An interesting new product development, is the quick folding gate EntraQuick II, an advancement of the QFG I which offers more flexibility to deal with different conditions and requirements. Due to the reinforced frame construction profiles and the much larger interpretation of the pivot bearing posts, opening widths up to 8 m in combination with a gate leaf height of 3m can now be realized, according to the motto: Higher, faster, farther!

In the age of smartphones and APP-technology the Perimeter Protection iPhone APP software hits bullseye. The APP allows operation using the full functionality of the new automatic control board using a smartphone. According to the motto “One for all!”, the innovative APP is designed to communicate with each product so that every product that comes with the WE-Tronic II can be operated using only one universal platform. Thanks to the new APP function, in addition to standard control/interface functions, the position status of the gate is available and it is now very easy to determine immediately whether a security element action (breach) has been triggered or confirmation of the current state of the gate. With the comprehensive diagnostic function all relevant data can easily be seen, potential weaknesses can be identified and error causes can be defined. Even the settings via PC or even via SD card are easy and user friendly to handle. Further programming via function keys is possible. Additional functions can easily be switched on or off via SD card. The new We-Tronic II replaces six (!) control boards with only one! PPG has always kept the focus on continuous research and development. They have managed to develop the standard features of the We-Tronic I and equip it with new and improved features. In some options the new control board will be cost effective, as some previous special functions have been incorporated into the standard. That means no extra cost and even optional price advantages for customers, says Stephan Stephani, General Sales Manager Germany. In future the We-Tronic II will be applicable for Perimeter Protection Groups entire portfolio.

In early 2013 there was again cause for joy! The M50 hydraulic bollard successfully passed the ASTM F2656-07 M50 crash test at KARCO Engineering in Adelanto / California. A 6.8 T truck impacted the bollard

with a speed of 80km/h. The bollard resisted easily and reached a P2 rating. Thanks to its technical construction, the M50 hydraulic bollard now belongs to one of the leading high security product ranges in the global market. Unique Selling Points are the shallow foundation – 400mm (excluding the lowering part for the bollard) and the hydraulic power unit being self-contained within the bollard which makes it easy to install.

In summary, one can say that the Perimeter Protection Germany GmbH proves once again that their product portfolio is at the cutting edge of technology and precedent-setting for the high security market. Certainly one can expect more innovative products and ideas from the experts of the Perimeter Protection Group.
