British based bpi.recycled products has revealed its plans for this year’s Recycling & Waste Management exhibition. At the event, which runs from the 15th to the 17th September at the NEC, Europe’s largest reprocessor of waste polythene intends to showcase just some of the continuing steps it is taking on behalf of the nation’s recycling and waste management sector In particular, the business will use its stand (Stand 644) to raise awareness of the need not only to recycle, but also to consider where this recycling takes place. As most large scale reprocessing actually takes place abroad, the green benefits of recycling plastic waste can easily be offset by the transport emission in shipping the scrap overseas and then bringing the recycled products back. With this in mind, bpi.recycled products has established a network of reprocessing plants across Great Britain, all with full Environment Agency accreditation and collectively giving it the capacity to reprocess in excess of 70,000 tonnes of UK waste each year. Aside from the need to keep it green by keeping it British, bpi.recycled products will also promote its innovative wheelie bin recycling scheme. Already being employed by a number of local authorities, this scheme sees damaged wheelie bins and recycling collection boxes being reclaimed, recycled and ultimately used to create second generation products. The remanufacturer will also exhibit some of the products it creates from these unwanted wheelie bins as well as from other forms of polythene scrap that might otherwise be destined for landfill. This will include items from its award winning Plaswood range of recycled plastic furniture, decking, fencing and other landscaping materials. These products are able to offer all the aesthetics of wood but with none of the maintenance requirements. As they are made from recycled plastic, they will not rot or crack. Nor do they need regular painting or treating with preservatives. Another notable product featuring on the bpi.recycled products’ stand will be its Green Sack® range of 100% recycled refuse sacks. These sacks employ a high percentage of waste plastic from agricultural sources (including balewrap and crop covers) giving them exceptional strength. Thanks to their production from UK waste at UK facilities, they also enjoy low product miles and by virtue, an incredibly small carbon footprint. Commenting on the forthcoming appearance, Guy Coates, Marketing Director from bpi.recycled products said: “RWM is an important event for us and this year, more so than ever. We’ve a great deal to tell people about and we’re confident our stand will offer something for everyone - from information on our latest products and initiatives through to guidance on how to keep their plastic recycling as green as possible.” - ENDS - Images & captions: Plaswood Bench.jpeg Star of the show. bpi.recycled products will use RWM09 to promote its ability to create recycled items like this Plaswood picnic bench with lower product miles.
