A leading independent developer of high quality homes has turned to Visqueen Zedex Bitumen DPC to help it meet the challenges of a particularly demanding application.

Banner Homes, which has an impressive reputation for developing luxury residences in central and southern England, has used the heavy duty waterproofing system on its Verney Road development in Winslow, Bucks for a demanding low loading application.

This mixed development of three and four bed houses and executive apartments with parapet walls is situated on high ground in an exposed location. As such, Banner Homes wanted a DPC that could provide the reassurance of high performance against harsh weather conditions.

Commenting on the use of Zedex Bitumen DPC, Mike Sims, Build Manager at Banner Homes, said: “Banner Homes has been developing a reputation for excellence since 1975 and nothing can be allowed to undermine that. We wanted to avoid any callbacks for remedial work at the Verney Road site not only because they’re costly in terms of time and resources, but also because they’re costly to customer satisfaction.

“It’s for this reason that we specified Visqueen Zedex Bitumen DPC. Its range of unique features, including excellent mortar adhesion, which reduces the likelihood of slippage in low loading application, and impressive versatility meant it was perfectly suited to the difficult job in hand.”

In particular, Banner Homes was attracted to Zedex Bitumen DPC because of its ability to be torch bonded. Designed specifically for use on parapet or coping stone applications, the waterproofing system uses homogenously sealed laps to provide an effective and multi-directional leak proof seal.

In line with its commitment to providing the best products backed by the highest levels of service and support, Visqueen Building Products also supplied technical advisors to help oversee the installation. These advisors were on hand throughout the process to provide practical guidance and expert advice.

Speaking of Banner Homes’ decision to use Visqueen Zedex Bitumen DPC at its Verney Road development, Cameron Yates, Product Manager at manufacturer Visqueen Building Products, said: “Visqueen prides itself on being able to offer a complete range of structural waterproofing and gas protection systems, with products available to meet the needs of any given project.

“For its development on Verney Road, Banner Homes wanted a DPC that could perform in the face of particularly challenging circumstances. Our comprehensive range allowed us to accommodate that requirement with a solution that addresses specific challenges whilst delivering very specific benefits.”
