Superintendent Alberto M. Carvalho has announced that Miami-Dade County Public Schools, the nation’s fourth largest school district, has selected Promethean as the exclusive supplier of interactive boards for over 10,000 classrooms currently without interactive board capability. As a part of a massive district-wide digital transformation initiative, over 10,000 Miami-Dade classrooms will soon feature one of Promethean’s new ActivBoard Touch systems. Additionally, Promethean will implement an 18-month professional development program designed to help Miami-Dade Public School educators unite their curricula and teaching styles with Promethean’s solutions.

“Promethean is proud to partner with the Miami-Dade Public School System to bring forth the technology renaissance in the classroom,” said Jim Marshall, Chief Executive Officer at Promethean. “The opportunity being presented to Promethean is that we can empower Miami-Dade teachers with a new way to motivate and engage students through collaborative digital learning activities in the classroom. Through our partnership, we are excited for the opportunity to work hand-in-hand with Miami-Dade educators to help them evolve how teaching and learning happens in their connected, 21st century classrooms.”

Carvalho’s announcement marks a big step forward for Miami-Dade’s 350,000 students. According to research conducted by the Marzano Research Laboratory of over 5,000 students, Promethean’s classroom technology solutions lead to a sustainable improvement of 16 percentile points for average student achievement. The study demonstrates that the average learner moves from the 50thto the 66thpercentile when learning over time in environments that feature Promethean interactive boards and educational tools.

"Technology is vitally important to the process of educating our students," said Superintendent Carvalho. "The technology offered here will give our teachers the opportunity to share a myriad of educational resources with students. We are proud to work with Promethean in providing this outstanding educational enhancement to our students."

CDW-G, a leading IT solutions and services provider, will work closely with Promethean to deliver the ActivBoard Touch systems to Miami-Dade. “This historic project has the opportunity to reshape learning for more than 350,000 students,” said Joe Simone, Director of K-12 at CDW-G. “We are combining CDW-G’s vast K-12 experience and ability to scale with Promethean’s technology to create an environment that promotes new learning models and more student engagement.”

The Promethean ActivBoard Touch brings together intuitive touch interactivity and Promethean’s award-winning software to facilitate engaging, effective learning experiences. In addition, the ActivBoard Touch allows teachers to boost classroom collaboration as two students or a teacher and student contribute to the lesson simultaneously. ActivBoard Touch installations will begin later this month and will be complete prior to the beginning of the 2014-15 academic school year.
