New Vitodens 200-W boilers expand output range and utilise high efficiency pump technology

Viessmann’s new 125 and 150 kW models meet the high output wall hung boiler needs of commercial installers and deliver on energy savings three years ahead of impending legislation.

Viessmann has launched two new models to its line of Vitodens 200-W gas-condensing commercial boilers, now offering even higher outputs of 125 and 150 kW. This means the range can be cascaded to produce outputs of up to 900 kW, 60 kW more than previously.

Future-proofing technology

The first boilers to be supplied with a high efficiency pump as a standard accessory, the Vitodens 200-W range contains technology not yet legally required by the Energy related Products (ErP) directive; where the boiler has an internal pump they are required by 2015 and 2013 where the pump is external. The high efficiency pumps are controlled by the boiler’s Vitotronic controller, which modulates their speed according to the boiler heat output; ensuring energy is not consumed unnecessarily. The pumps are DC driven and as a result, electricity consumption is reduced between 50-70 percent depending on the system (e.g. for larger boilers pump power is reduced from around 350 W to 170 W), saving the customer the equivalent of £100 for a single boiler per year. A 0-10 V output is also supplied with all models as standard to support the pumps.

Improved efficiency and reduced maintenance

Viessmann’s Inox-Radial heat exchanger enables the Vitodens 200-W to achieve a standard seasonal efficiency of up to 98 percent. Its stainless steel heating surface is designed specifically for condensing technology, allowing condensate to simply run off downwards creating a permanent self-cleaning effect and resulting in a longer service life whilst reducing maintenance effort. The unique heat exchanger is typical of Viessmann’s quality German engineering and comes with a ten year warranty.

In combination with the Inox-Radial heat exchanger, Viessmann’s MatriX cylinder burner ensures high-energy efficiency and long-term heating convenience. By using thousands of tiny flames instead of one large flame, the MatriX cylinder burner distributes heat cleanly and efficiently and the stainless steel MatriX mesh ensures long term reliability. Low emission combustion also makes the burner environmentally-friendly, its extremely low NOx and CO emissions not only meeting but exceeding all international clean air regulations and guidelines.

Meeting installers’ demands

With noise emissions of less than 32 dB(A), with 30 dB being as quiet as a ticking watch, the new Vitodens 200-W models’ low ventilation speed quietens the units. Straightforward to control, the Vitodens 200-W is also available with either a Vitotronic 100 constant temperature controller or a Vitotronic 200/300 weather compensated controller. Weather compensation can generate customer fuel consumption savings of up to 15 percent.

Nigel Jefferson, sales director for commercial and renewable products at Viessmann UK says, “The commercial sector is shifting and higher output, wall-hung boilers are becoming the preferred product choice. To meet this growing demand, these two new models are more compact and offer greater flexibility for installation, should space be limited it is also possible to cascade the units in a corner, making fitting more straightforward.

“Viessmann has a commitment to innovation, high product utilisation and an obligation to protect the environment and with the addition of the high efficiency pumps, this new generation takes a highly successful product range and extends it beyond what is currently legally required, so our customers can benefit from savings ahead of time. The new lines also provide the convenience and flexibility that add real value to installers as well as the output they demand.”

The new 125 and 150 kW models are available for UK installation from November 1st 2012.
