The Joseph Rowntree Theatre Limited in York is seeking new volunteer board members.

The Joseph Rowntree Theatre has been run by its local community since 2001. As a result of recent board changes and an increase in theatre usage, the trustees are seeking to recruit five new board members.

Since its formation in 2001 the Joseph Rowntree Theatre Limited has overseen investment in the theatre of more than  £290,000 and has developed a fantastic, well –equipped, affordable performance space for use by the local community.

The board is seeking to appoint five new members. Two of the successful applicants will take up the roles of Bookings Director and Front of House Director. The additional three successful applicants will be appointed as trustees of the charity and will work in supporting  other board members, each covering one of three distinct areas, namely volunteer coordination, fundraising & events and marketing & theatre promotion.

This is a chance for enthusiastic people to play a strategic role in the future of an established and exciting organisation. The board is looking for individuals who will volunteer their ideas, experience, skills, energy and time.

Chair of the Trustees, Dan Shrimpton, commented: “The Joseph Rowntree Theatre plays an important part in York’s vibrant live performing arts scene, and amazingly it does this to an extremely high standard entirely thanks to a small army of volunteers.  We want to make sure that the stage is set for this theatre to go from strength to strength over the next few years, so we are very keen to welcome new board members and trustees who will share our passion for this wonderful venue.”

Interested parties are invited to join current board members at one of two informal sessions in the theatre, where more information about the Joseph Rowntree Theatre Ltd and the roles available will be provided.

The two dates are Saturday 8th November 2014 at 10am and Saturday 15th November 2014 at 10am.

Full details of the roles can be found on the Joseph Rowntree Theatre website http://jrtheatre.co.uk/vacancies/ or copies can be sent  by post calling Dan Shrimpton on 07511 123659.
