BENEMILK FEEDS ON THE FINNISH MARKET

16-18 January 2013, Benemilk® feeds will be launched on the Finnish market on
the cruise for Raisioagro’s customers. Benemilk feeds increase milk production
and improve the contents of milk. In addition, new Benemilk feeds improve
nutrient utilisation in cow feeding.

At the beginning of 2012, Raisio introduced on the Finnish market a complete
feed improving milk yield and the contents of milk. The feed was known by the
name of Maituri 12000 E. In one year, the complete feed, developed on the basis
of Raisio’s own innovation, has gained strong popularity among producers. With
the new product range, it is possible to complement more precisely the
nutritional needs of cows with different silages. All Benemilk feeds have very
high energy levels and a strong impact on the volume and composition of milk.

Benemilk product family includes three complete feeds and one semi-concentrate.
The feeds are easily identified on the basis of colours, as colours Black, Red
and Blue of the product names relate to the product properties.

Benemilk Black is the strongest feed of the line, designed for challenging use
in the feeding of high-yielding cows. In addition to the factors affecting the
contents and yield of milk, Benemilk Black contains health-promoting
ingredients that reduce metabolic stress in dairy cows. Benemilk Amino Black
semi-concentrate brings the benefits of Benemilk products and positive health
effects to the grain feeding of high-yielding cows.

Benemilk Red is a strong feed for reliable production. It is sufficient even
when using old silage. If high-protein silage or clover silage is used on the
farm, Benemilk Blue is the right choice since it has lower protein levels.
Benemilk Red, strong and high in protein, as well as Benemilk Blue, with lower
protein content, both have very high energy levels. The same increase in the
contents of milk can be achieved with these complete feeds as with the
strongest Benemilk Black feed.

User experiences from more than 600 farms in Finland

Already over 600 Finnish farms have user experiences of Benemilk Black feeds.
Producers say they have seen the difference in the milk tank when the ordinary
complete feed is replaced with Benemilk feed. On farms milk yield has increased
and the contents of milk have risen. Milk yield has typically increased by 2-3
litres per cow per day and, at best, by even 3.5 litres. Milk protein content
may increase by 1-3 tenths of a percent, fat typically rises by 3-5 tenths of a
percent and, at best, even higher increases have been recorded.

The best response to Benemilk feeds is obtained with complete feed feeding, in
which the entire concentrated feed portion is made using the Benemilk method.

Benemilk – proven efficacy

The feeding test conducted in the Maaninka research barn of MTT Agrifood
Research Finland in spring 2012 showed 2.7 kg higher energy corrected milk
yield per cow per day with Benemilk complete feed compared to the base period
feeding with grain concentrates. Furthermore, the protein and fat contents also
increased. The MTT results therefore confirm scientifically the user experience
of rising volumes and contents.

The study found no difference in feed consumption between the test groups so
the energy of Benemilk feed was used more effectively for milk formation. At
the same time, the energy utilisation improved. In practice, better feed
efficiency of Benemilk feed can also be utilised by lowering the daily portion
of concentrated feed in the feed planning by 0.5-1.0 kg.
