RaySearch Laboratories AB has received an order for its RayStation® treatment planning system from Hôpital Riviera in Vevey, Switzerland.

Hôpital Riviera is building up a new state-of-the-art radiation therapy center. It is planned to be operational in 2013 and the clinic will use RayStation® as its treatment planning system for conventional 3D-CRT treatments, as well as more advanced treatments, such as IMRT and VMAT. The order also includes advanced tools enabling a more efficient treatment planning process, such as Multi-Criteria optimization. This highly intuitive tool lets the clinician evaluate the impact of changing different treatment priorities in real-time, which has a large potential to speed up the time-consuming decision process in optimization of treatment plans. Alongside the treatment planning and optimization components, the order also encompasses a fully integrated package of image processing tools such as automated organ segmentation and image fusion. The system will also include a solution for dose tracking which is a sophisticated product that allows the clinicians to monitor radiation doses taking into account changes occurring in a patient’s anatomy during the course of treatment.

“We made a thorough review of all options in the treatment planning field and RayStation® was clearly the most modern and capable system. No other system can match RayStation’s optimization tools integrated with a complete package of tools for adaptive radiation therapy. It also has a modern interface and an efficient workflow that is fully integrated from delineation, fusion and planning to adaptive radiotherapy. We are really looking forward to start using the system clinically”, says Dr. Oscar Matzinger, Designated Head of Radiation Oncology at Hôpital Riviera in Vevey and Assistant Professor at the University Hospital of Lausanne.

“Hôpital Riviera will establish a very impressive clinic and we are proud that they have selected RayStation®. This order is a bit special for us since it is the first time that we are selling RayStation® to a brand new clinic that is purchasing all the equipment at the same time. I think the fact that we were selected signifies that we have a very competitive product compared to the systems coming from the suppliers that also sell hardware”, says Johan Löf, CEO of RaySearch.
