Redsense Medical announces that the company’s blood leakage alarm is in use at three of the five largest dialysis care providers in the USA: Fresenius, DaVita and American Renal. The alarm is also used at three of the top five-ranked hospitals in nephrology: Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic and New York Presbyterian Hospital.

Mayo Clinic and Presbyterian Hospital started to use Redsense in 2018. These additions are further proof of the increasing Redsense usage in all areas of hemodialysis care. This is a clear trend of clinic/hospital and home dialysis usage and encompasses treatments during the day as well as during the night.

"Both the knowledge on how to strengthen patient safety with the Redsense blood leakage alarm, and the actual usage of the product, is steadily increasing at the most prominent dialysis clinics in the USA. This is exciting as the USA is the world’s leading dialysis market, and therefore sets the tone globally,” says Redsense Medical’s CEO Patrik Byhmer.

The sales of the Redsense blood leakage alarm and optical fiber decreased in the USA during the last quarter of 2017, but as previously announced that was mainly due to distributors selling of their supplies while not ordering new products at the same rate.

“With an increased usage at existing end-customers’ facilities, and Redsense installations at new clinics and hospitals, we expect to see higher sales numbers for 2018 than 2017” says Patrik Byhmer.

About Redsense Medical
Redsense Medical is a corporate group with operations mainly in Europe and the United States. The company has developed the Redsense system, a medical technology product used for monitoring and alarm in the case of blood leakage in connection with hemodialysis. Redsense solves one of the most serious remaining safety problems within hemodialysis – to quickly detect venous needle dislodgement and catheter leakage and minimizing blood leakage. The system consists of a patented fiber optic sensor, designed for either venous needle or central venous catheter, which is connected to an alarm unit. The company has also developed an internationally standardized direct connection enabling compatible dialysis machines to stop the blood flow automatically when blood leakage occurs. From the very start, the development of the company's technology has been based on the demands and safety requirements of healthcare providers in the dialysis sector.
