NECTA and Relish Publications join forces to promote culinary excellence
Fine Dining and Restaurant Guides publisher Relish Publications is sponsoring this years North East Culinary & Trade Association (NECTA) 2 day Salon Culinaire on the 8thand 9thMay 2013. The event features colleges from across the region competing to demonstrate the significant and diverse range of skills needed to work in a professional kitchen. Relish is specifically supporting the gala event on the 9thMay 2013, when the NECTA Chef of the Year 2013 will be crowned, with entrants from professional chefs from across the region.
The NECTA event is now an established part of the North East culinary sector and is well respected by all colleges and the fast growing range of fine dining establishments across the region. The two day event at Newcastle Civic Centre attracts a national audience who come to the region to see the new and emerging talent which is at the heart of the region. Relish Publications who will launch the next edition of their series of fine dining and restaurant guide ‘Relish North East and Yorkshire’ in early Summer 2013 wanted to throw their full support behind the event, and provide a unique opportunity for the talented chefs of the region to actively compete for the title of chef of the year.
The entire 2 day event is a showcase to everyone in the region that the new and emerging culinary talent in the North East is outstanding. With all significant regional FE providers represented with full teams on the first day and our gala event and presentation of the prestigious NECTA Chef of the Year award at the end of the event, we have a really great programme of activity. The Inter College Salon Culinaire covers every conceivable skill which is required to work in a professional kitchen from Lamb Preparation and Knife Skills to Original Hot Dessert creation. The event demonstrates the real skills which are coming through from our colleges, and the outstanding level of culinary flare and positive approach been taken in colleges to preserve traditional skills whilst embracing ever more innovative cookery techniques.
