AMERICAN GOLFER CRISTIE KERR JOINS THE RICHARD MILLE TEAM
The Richard Mille family has just welcomed its latest partner, Cristie Kerr, who joins Italy’s Diana Luna in the lady’s team of professional golfers.
Even as a child, Florida-born Cristie Kerr showed a natural aptitude for golf. She began playing at the age of nine and quickly emerged as one of the best in her age-group. Her mastery and skill earned her a top state-ranking while playing on her school boy’s golf team and progressed to a remarkable amateur career. She hit her first shots on the LPGA circuit as a professional player at the tender age of 18. In 2002 she scored her first triumph, winning the Long Drugs Challenge in California. This led to a string of victories until she walked off with her first major tournament, the US Women’s Open, in 2007, followed by a record victory at the LPGA championship a few years later.
With 16 victories on the LPGA Tour, seven appearances at the Solheim Cup, three victories in the Wendy’s Three Tour Challenge and 140 Top Tens, the golfer has notched an astonishing record which has earned her the plaudits of her peers. 2011 saw her collect two supreme honors, the Muhammad Ali Sports Person of the Year Award and her second ESPY award, crowning her Best Female Golfer of the year.
Her exemplary golfing journey has also marked the history of the United States – she was the first American woman to top the World Golf Ranking, has never been ranked outside the top thirteen in the World Golf Rankings and has the highest career earnings of any female American Golfer.
Despite being an accomplished sportswoman whose prowess is universally acknowledged, Cristie Kerr never loses sight of her personal commitment to charity through the foundation she created in 2003. The Birdies for Breast Cancer supports women who are fighting against the disease, just like her mother was that very year. In ten years, the Foundation’s Celebrity Golf Classic, made up of golf champions and celebrities, has raised over $3 million.
Cristie Kerr’s talent and ability to go beyond expectations mentally and physically, coupled with her great generosity, immediately appealed to Richard Mille. Which is why Cristie will now be seen sporting a RM 007 in titanium on her wrist as she strides across the world’s finest courses, on the LPGA Tour and Lacoste Ladies Open, where Richard Mille is a major partner for the second year running.
Richard Mille is very sensitive to the Charities and Foundations supported through all our partners and will in turn support the Birdies for Breast Cancer Foundation which is so dear to Cristie. LA GOLFEUSE AMERICAINE CRISTIE KERR REJOINT LE TEAM RICHARD MILLE
Nouvelle partenaire de la marque, Cristie Kerr entre dans la famille Richard Mille et rejoint ainsi l’Italienne Diana Luna dans le team des golfeuses professionnelles.
Originaire de Floride, Cristie Kerr a manifesté dès la prime enfance une aptitude naturelle pour le golf qu’elle a commencé à pratiquer à l’âge de 9 ans pour s’imposer très rapidement parmi les meilleures de sa catégorie. Sa maîtrise et son habileté lui ont permis d’intégrer l’équipe masculine de golf de son école et de démarrer alors sa remarquable carrière amateur. Joueuse professionnelle à seulement 18 ans, elle frappe ses premières balles sur le circuit du LPGA. En 2002, elle signe sa première victoire en remportant le Long Drugs Challenge en Californie. S’en suivront de nombreux succès jusqu’à celui de son premier grand tournoi, l’US Women’s open, en 2007, et quelques années plus tard, le championnat LPGA.
16 victoires en LPGA, 7 participations au Solheim Cup, 3 victoires au Wendy’s Three Tour Challenge et 140 top 10 : la golfeuse a affiché depuis, un palmarès époustouflant qui lui a valu les honneurs de ses pairs. Elle s’est ainsi vu décerner en 2011 deux très hautes distinctions, le Muhammad Ali Award et son second ESPY award, couronnant la meilleure joueuse de l’année.
Son parcours exemplaire a également marqué l’histoire des États-Unis puisqu’elle fut non seulement la première Américaine à se hisser à la première place du World Golf Ranking mais également la golfeuse à avoir accumulé le plus de gains dans toute sa carrière.
Sportive accomplie et reconnue de tous, Cristie Kerr n’en oublie pas pour autant sa position de femme engagée à travers la fondation en 2003 de l’association Birdies for Breast Cancer, pour soutenir les femmes qui, comme sa mère cette année-là, ont à se battre contre cette maladie qu’est le cancer du sein. En dix ans, cette association composée de champions de golf et de célébrités, a pu récolter plus de 3 millions de dollars.
Très impliqué également dans les oeuvres caritatives, Richard Mille qui supporte entre autres la fondation YBafraid de Yohan Blake, Free the children de Natalie Portman ou bien encore Hatachi Kikin tsunami aid, soutiendra l’association Birdies for Breast Cancer grâce aux contributions de ses amis et partenaires de la marque.
