It’s not just Commonwealth athletes winning gold medals this month. London lift manufacturer, Apex Lifts, has also won a gold medal - from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents for achieving five RoSPA Gold awards in succession.

The RoSPA Gold medal is a rare accolade presented only to organisations that have achieved at least five consecutive RoSPA Gold awards. Apex received the award as part of the RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety awards 2014.

“We’re extremely proud to achieve the RoSPA Gold medal, and our fifth Gold Award. The sustained high level of health and safety performance Apex has achieved is testament to the hard work put in by all of our staff to create a culture of safety across the business,” says Warren Jenchner, Managing Director of Apex Lifts.

Dating back 58 years, the RoSPA Awards scheme is the largest and longest-running programme of its kind in the UK. It recognises commitment to accident and ill health prevention and is open to businesses and organisations of all types and sizes from across the UK and overseas. The scheme not only looks at accident records, but also entrants’ overarching health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement.

David Rawlins, RoSPA’s awards manager, says: “The RoSPA Awards encourage the raising of occupational health and safety standards across the board. Organisations that gain recognition for their health and safety management systems, such as Apex Lifts, contribute to a collective raising of the bar for other organisations to aspire to, and we offer them our congratulations.”

“Remaining at the leading edge of safety in the industry is a top priority at Apex. We’re committed to continuing to invest in our occupational health and safety management system, and look forward to hopefully achieving a sixth Gold Award next year,” concludes Warren.
