Bjorgunarsveitin Geisli, the ICE-SAR unit based in Fakrudsfjordur on Iceland has decided to renew and extend their RescueRunner fleet with two new RescueRunners.

ICE-SAR has 99 rescue units, located throughout Iceland. They comprise over 3,000 volunteers who are always on standby 24/7 for emergencies. The rescue teams are specialized in search-and-rescue both on land and at sea.

Bjorgunarsveitin Geisli, the ICE-SAR unit in Fakrudsfjordur has used the RescueRunner system since 2017 and has now decided to invest in 2 more RescueRunners. They use them for SAR missions, pulling oil booms, cleaning missions of the Icelandic coast line, environmental protection and even to pull away dead whales when they occasionally are stranded on a beach.

These 2 new RescueRunners will be delivered in the end of November and also used at the RescueRunner Day we will organize together with the Icelandic Coastguard onboard their vessel OPV Thor in Reykjavik on the 13th of December 2018.

"We are very happy to see that the RescueRunner system is working so well for the ICE-SAR organisation and that it fits their operational needs to the extent that they now decide to start investing in additional units. Iceland is an island with extreme weather conditions, a very rough coastline and ICE-SAR's sea rescue crews need equipment they can really rely on. We are very proud that they have chosen our RescueRunner system for the important work they do. This is an important milestone for Safe at Sea AB (publ) as it means that we are now established in the Icelandic market" says Linda Ahl, VP / Sales-an and our ambitiod Business Development Manager at Safe at Sea AB (publ).
