Innovative tools, process knowledge and services for Middle East customers

At ADIPEC 2013 Sandvik Coromant, the world’s leading supplier of cutting tools and know-how to the metalworking industry, will be showcasing solutions and capabilities that address the specific requirements of machining components for oil and gas applications. This will be the company’s first time at this influential event and reflects the increased support that is being put in place to meet the needs of customers in the Middle East.

Tough workpiece materials (from heat-resistant super alloys and titanium to super duplex alloys for piping components), complex shapes, increasing component size, exceptional specifications, surface finish and the need to operate reliably in harsh target environments are just some of the characteristics that makes the manufacture of oil and gas components so challenging. At the same time, growth in demand for energy is driving the search for new viable sources of fuel, which in turn, increases demand for components to be machined in high volumes and to short deadlines.

Sandvik Coromant offers a comprehensive portfolio of component solutions for all of the materials typically used in oil and gas assemblies such as spool bodies, tubing hangars, valves and control unit collars. These solutions include tools and process knowledge and are backed up by local support, training and project management for customers worldwide. This helps manufacturers to address the technically demanding requirements of machining components for oil and gas applications at the same time as increasing productivity and improving efficiency.

“Among the innovative solutions that we offer are the new GC4325 steel turning grade that delivers increased cutting speeds and a longer more predictable tool life; CoroDrill 818 advanced counterboring technologies that offer high process security; CoroDrill 801 deep hole drilling tools that support high machine utilization and improved flexibility; and the ‘Silent Tools’ family of toolholders that minimize vibration during machining,” said Valerio Vertua, sales manager for Sandvik Coromant in the Middle East. “Our participation at ADIPEC demonstrates our commitment to the oil and gas sector and our desire to support customers more closely in the Middle East.”
