Scandic Hotels, the leading Nordic hotel company, is bringing its best practice and know-how on sustainability to collaborate with 13 other leading hotels as a member of the International Tourism Partnership (ITP).

Scandic is a signatory of Agenda 2030 and the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The company’s hotels are certified according to the Nordic Ecolabel and they work across a range of sustainability initiatives to tackle issues such as single-use disposables and food waste as well as to promote water stewardship, diversity and inclusion.

Scandic’s industry-leading solutions include the “hang up your towel” standard, organic breakfasts and design for all. Scandic’s hotels run on 100 percent renewable energy and in recent years, Scandic has reduced CO2 emissions at its hotels by up to 40 percent.

- Sustainability is a part of our DNA and we have a long history of implementing sustainable solutions across our hotels. We are looking forward to collaborating with our ITP colleagues to reach our own objectives and more importantly, to make an important contribution in the hospitality sector by working towards ITP’s Sustainability Goals, says Even Frydenberg, President & CEO of Scandic Hotels Group.

- We’re delighted to welcome such a highly respected company as Scandic to collaborate with us, says Madhu Rajesh, Director of ITP.

- ITP is a unique industry coalition of leading hotel brands that recognize the need for collective action to achieve the SDGs. In 2017, the hotel sector joined hands to express its commitment to ITP’s Goals for 2030 that represent a call to action on critical sustainability issues including carbon dioxide emissions, water, human rights and youth employment. Scandic has an established history of leadership in its sustainability initiatives. As a member of ITP, Scandic will share its expertise and help lead the industry as a responsible hospitality business, she continues.
