An extravaganza of music, art and ideas

The Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and its music director Daniel Harding, together with the Swedish Radio Choir and Peter Dijkstra, present a completely unique experience with music and science as a unifying force. The project is entitled Interplay and the opening night is 11 September 2014.

"Interplay is an extravaganza of music, art and ideas taking place in Stockholm during the 2014/2015 concert season. A season where ideas thrive and music is heard afresh. A symphony of creative interplay between artists, academics, scientists and philosophers", says music director Daniel Harding.

Interplay offers a total of 12 events with themes such as rhetoric, neuroscience, physics, art, mathematics and witchcraft. Although the speakers work within a number of different fields, they have one thing in common: they are radical innovators and their thinking stretches far beyond what is generally regarded as accepted knowledge.

"We are all extremely enthusiastic about Interplay and we hope the public will feel the same. The connections that Daniel Harding makes between different scientific disciplines and symphonic music are extremely exciting. I hope that this will attract both regular attendees and an entirely new audience", says Helena Wessman, Berwaldhallen's general manager.

Speakers at Interplay include mathematician Marcus de Sautoy, brain researcher and pianist Fredrik Ullén, artist Conrad Shawcross and tenor Ian Bostridge.

Tickets for this autumn's concerts and Interplay events may be purchased on www.berwaldhallen.se or from Berwaldhallen's ticket office on +46 (0) 8 784 18 00.
