Hbtq-rights are human rights
Human Rights Conference - det första av två under EuroPride 2018
Under fredagen hölls Human Rights Conference i EuroPride House Stockholm, med ett fokus på hbtq-rättigheter, i synnerhet för transpersoner, runt om i Europa.
Britta Davidsohn, Stockholm Prides ordförande, och Tasso Stafilidis, ordförande för West Pride, välkomnade besökarna, och därefter öppnades konferensen med ett tal av kultur- och demokratiminister Alice Bah Kuhnke och förra EU ministern Birgitta Ohlsson.
Konferensen innehöll seminarier och föreläsningar, bland annat om mobiliseringen av trans-communitys i Östeuropa och Ryssland, om hbtq-flyktingar och de utmaningar som de möter i migrationsprocessen, samt hur svenska minderåriga saknar rättigheten för att lagligt kunna genomgå könskorregering.
Sandra Ehne, ordförande för RFSL, och Hans Linde, ordförande för RFSU, höll i ett seminarium angående abort i länder som Polen och Irland. Flera av riksdagspartiernas och även Amnesty höll sina egna seminarier under dagen.
Partiledardebatten
En annan punkt som hölls under dagen, utanför konferensens program men inne i EuroPride House, var RFSL:s partiledardebatt. Åtta partierna deltog, Feministiskt Initiativ och sju av riksdagspartierna fanns representerade, och debatterade i en rad olika ämnen med fokus på hbtq-frågor för en publik på runt 600 personer.
EuroPride 2018 Gothenburg
Den 17 augusti hålls en andra Human Rights Conference under EuroPride 2018 Gothenburg, Denna konferens kommer att ha ett globalt fokus, och den svenske EU-kommissionären Cecilia Malmström är öppningstalare.
Human Rights Conference - the first of two during EuroPride 2018
During Friday, the Human Rights Conference took place in EuroPride House Stockholm, with a European focus on LGBTQ rights, especially in regards to transgender people.
Britta Davidsson, president of Stockholm Pride, and Tasso Stafilidis, president of West Pride, welcomed the visitors, after which the conference was opened by Alice Bah Kunkhe, Swedish Minister of Democracy, and Birgitta Ohlsson, the former minister of European Union affairs.
The conference offered several seminars and lectures, for example about the mobilisation of the trans communities in Eastern Europe and Russia, LGBTQ refugees and the challenges they face in the migration process, as well as how Swedish minors lacks the right to change their sex legal.
Sandra Ehne, president of RFSL, and Hans Linde, president of RFSU, together held a seminar about abortion in countries like Poland and Ireland. Several of the parties of parliaments LGBTQ branches and Amnesty held their own seminars as well.
Swedish party leader debate
Another event during the day, appart from the Human Rights Conference but held in the EuroPride House Stockholm, was RFSL's party leader debate. Eight Swedish parties, Feministic Initiative and seven parties fromt the parliament, debated various topics with LGBTQ-focus for an audience of about 600 visitors.
EuroPride 2018 Gothenburg
August 17th there will be second Human Rights Conference during EuroPride 2018 Gothenburg. This will have a global focus, and the Swedish European Union commissioner Cecilia Malmström is the opening speaker.
