Seamless wins the prestigious Global Telecom Business Award for its project “Be Your Own Boss”
Seamless Distribution Systems, the leading provider of software solutions that enable digital distribution, has received an award in the Software and Applications Innovation category at the GTB Telecoms Innovation Summit and Awards 2017. The award winning project “Be Your Own Boss” is a joint initiative of SDS and MTN Zambia, country’s fastest growing and most innovative network. The project was launched commercially as MTN Tamanga in April 2016. The award was presented to SDS at the award ceremony that was held on 23rd May, 2017 in London.
For over 10 years, the GTB awards bring together industry leaders, innovators and key contributors from telecom community to share insights and analysis on emerging trends and new technologies. It celebrates successful partnerships between telecom operators and their vendors, recognizing innovative cutting-edge projects that have contributed positively towards the development of the telecom industry.
The awards are judged by an independent committee comprising of members from different fields that evaluate the project and recognize only the most promising innovations. “Be Your Own Boss” allows mobile users of MTN to become resellers of airtime, purchase stock through their mobile money accounts and start selling airtime to earn an extra income. It encourages entrepreneurship and empowers lives by allowing subscribers to get a direct monetary benefit from airtime sales. Alan Burkitt-Gray, Executive Editor of Global Telecoms Business and Capacity, while congratulating the winners, said, “To get through the first hurdle and be shortlisted is already a great tribute to the quality of work here, and to go on to win an award shows an excellent level of innovation in driving demand for better quality services.
