175 years of seca - It's not starting that counts, but rather persevering
Celebrating our 175th anniversary as the worldwide market and innovation leader is truly something special. In recent years, seca has expanded its range in the area of medical measuring and weighing. seca mBCA analyzer range are "state of the art" in the area of bioimpedance measurement because they offer the medical analysis of body composition quickly, simply, precisely, and at a medically validated level.
The focus of all product developments is to provide the best possible support to users by developing seca products that help to shorten routine procedures and avoid errors. seca is growing at its Hamburg location and worldwide
seca has around 200 employees in Hamburg and 400 worldwide – and the number is growing. A total of 50 new hires are currently planned in the areas of Service and Sales, 30 of them in Hamburg. In order to be as well prepared as possible for coming developments and to create the necessary space for the increasing number of employees in Hamburg, seca purchased a building of the former Max Bahr DIY story chain that will be harmoniously integrated into the neighboring company premises.
At the start: the decimal scale
The founding of seca goes back to the young locksmith, A.C.C. Joachim. He acquired the corresponding knowledge from the Strasbourg monk Quintenz, who invented the decimal scale in 1821. In Hamburg he established the first scale factories in Germany in 1840. Then in 1888, a young machinist named Frederik Vogel acquired the company and had the name seca trademarked in 1897. seca quickly became well known for its innovative developments after this.
