On May 29, the Municipal Executive Board in Järfälla decided to proceed with plans to establish a new neighborhood in Veddesta together with Serneke. In addition to housing, schools, shops and hotels, a central part of the plan are sports facilities including an indoor ski circuit.

The land allocation agreement adopted by Järfälla municipal council yesterday grants Serneke exclusive rights for three years to negotiate with the municipality on the transfer and development of land in the area. The municipality and Serneke will develop a shared detailed development plan.

The land allocation agreement stipulates that the parties will work to plan new construction in the neighborhood, including housing, sports facilities, offices, hotels, schools, retail and culture. An indoor ski circuit is also included in the letter of intent.

“We consider it a matter of course to take public health, integration and education into account in the planning of housing and new neighborhoods. By building for exercise and sports combined with schools, culture and business, we generate the conditions for these aspects. We want to be involved in creating this together with the Municipality of Järfälla,” says Ola Serneke, CEO of Serneke.

“I am pleased that Serneke wants to be part of developing the urban environment and quality of life in one of Järfälla’s most attractive locations. In addition to new residential and commercial premises, something as unique as an indoor ski facility is being added and this will be a destination for visitors from all over the Stockholm region,” says Claes Thunblad (S), Chairman of the Järfälla Municipal Council.

The area of land where the new neighborhood is planned is located on the western side of the E18 highway, adjacent to the current Veddesta Centrum shopping center, with direct access to the future extension of the Stockholm Metro’s blue line.

The project facilitates exploitation of a gross area of between 90,000 and 150,000 square meters.
