Lincoln, UK – 11th January 2012 - Lincoln’s premier upscale hotel, DoubleTree by Hilton Lincoln, has welcomed its first guests.

The DoubleTree by Hilton Lincoln on Brayford Wharf North opened its doors to the public for the first time on Friday 30th December – in time to welcome in the New Year.

The hotel, which has created over 70 jobs, offers 115 contemporary and well appointed hotel rooms, 17 of which are spacious studio suites all with a balcony overlooking Brayford Pool or Lincoln Cathedral.

The rooms provide the highest standards of comfort including the luxurious Sweet Dreams by DoubleTree® beds, LCD television, alarm clock radio with MP3 connectivity, high-speed Internet access and a generous work area. The hotel also boasts complimentary wireless internet access throughout the hotel, a state-of-the-art fitness centre and on-site car park.

DoubleTree by Hilton Lincoln guests will benefit from the characteristic qualities found at more than 270 DoubleTree by Hilton hotels and resorts in 22 countries around the world, including the warm welcome of the brand’s legendary chocolate chip cookie presented to every guest upon check-in; an array of upscale amenities and guest services; the rewards of the Hilton HHonors guest loyalty programme; and a unique and caring team member commitment to the local community.

A panoramic glass lift on the front of the hotel takes visitors directly up to the fifth floor where they’ll find The Electric Bar & Restaurant which enjoys stunning views of Lincoln Cathedral and the Brayford Pool.

Diners can choose from a mouth-watering menu of modern British cuisine which includes classic dishes with a contemporary twist such as posh fish & chips: pan-fried fillet of halibut, confit potatoes, garden pea and mint purée, soy-glazed leeks with pan juices and deconstructed lemon meringue pie with lime leaf ice-cream.

Also on the fifth floor is the rooftop ballroom, which can accommodate up to 300 guests, and a further 500m² of flexible events space designed to cater for meetings and exhibitions as well as conferences and weddings.

Developer Leigh Hall from Brayford Hotels said he is delighted that the hotel has welcomed its first guests: “The DoubleTree by Hilton Lincoln is designed to provide the city with a luxurious and welcoming space which is contemporary but still in keeping with the surrounding landscape and architecture.

“The hotel will boost the city’s offering to tourists and provide a world-class hotel facility for both residents and businesses to enjoy.”

Visit Lincoln Partnership Manager Emma Tatlow said the opening of the new DoubleTree by Hilton is a huge and welcome boost for Lincoln.

“We are delighted that such an investment has been made in Lincoln, particularly during such challenging economic times,” said Emma.

“This investment coupled with other developments across the city including the recent green light for the Lincoln Eastern bypass and the accolade for Steep Hill of Britain's Great Street 2012 really does mean the time is now for Lincoln.

“We look forward to working with the team at the DoubleTree by Hilton to promote Lincoln to new audiences and raise the profile of this city.”
