Google Glass demonstrations and global megatrends were among the highlights at the fourth LincUpLive conference staged in Lincoln yesterday (Thursday).

The event at the DoubleTree by Hilton Lincoln explored innovation, growth and regeneration and was so popular that it trended at number one in the UK for a time on the social networking site Twitter.

LincUpLive attracted record numbers of delegates and provided them with tips and advice on how to keep up with and embrace new technologies and business practices.

Among the keynote speakers were wearable technology entrepreneur Redg Snodgrass, who allowed delegates to try out a Google Glass device, and Wayne Gibbins, an associate at funding company Notion Capital who discussed predicting and exploiting megatrends.

Richard Duxbury, publisher of the Lincolnshire Echo, told the audience how Lincolnshire Media was reinventing itself to adapt to new technology, while DP Marketing gave useful advice on search engine optimisation (SEO).

Organiser Glenn Le Santo said: “This event was our most successful to date, and we are very pleased with how well it went. People attending were able to get some really valuable insights into how to make the most of emerging technologies and improve their business.

“Social media played a huge part in making this event a global one, with posts being shared worldwide, including in Canada, France and the United States.

“The #LUL360 hashtag entered and stayed in the top five all day on Twitter, which is fantastic exposure both for our event and for Lincoln.”
