A student at Birmingham City University is forging a career as an R&B singer by launching a new music video.

Lewis ‘LP’ Planter is a songwriter, producer and artist who grew up in Jamaica and who now studies sound engineering at the university.

He’ll be in Lincoln on Saturday (21st May) for a launch party to promote the video for his latest song Name and Number which has a 1950s big band feel and was filmed on location in the city.

Name and Number was originally released back in August 2010 and featured on prolific Jamaican label Don Corleone Records' compilation album Major and Minor Riddim. It will be re-released to coincide with the launch of the video.

“I am over the moon at the production quality and professionalism of the project and I would relish the opportunity to work with the team again,” Lewis said.

“My music is a representation of my life and my intention is to spearhead a revival of meaningful music quite similar to the eras of the past.”

The video was produced by Lincoln-based events, promotional and modelling agency Events23 in collaboration with Christian Moles and Twist3d.

It was directed by Christian Moles and shot by Adrian Samarra from Adrian Samarra Productions.

“As co-executive producers Events23 provided exquisite creative ideas for the video, management services, actors and models while Christian and Adrian managed to transform the very detailed storyboard created by Twist3d and Christian into a modern-day classic,” said Lewis.

“We hope that when people watch the video they’ll appreciate the time and effort that went in to making it as believable as possible. Events23 played a big part in organising this shoot and working with them was a pleasure.”

Paul Mutagejja, Managing Director of Events23 who also provided actors for the shoot, said: “We were delighted to be asked by Christian to work on collaboration on this project along with Twist3d and Adrian Samarra.

“It was a really enjoyable shoot for everybody involved who had a lot of fun sourcing 1950s costumes and props to make the video look as authentic as possible.”

Paul Sinclair from Twist3d added: “Working on a music video gave me the opportunity to use my drawing skills to help visualise our ideas through storyboards. The team worked really well and I hope to be able to collaborate on similar projects with them in the future.”

Notes to Editors

Lewis will join the cast and crew for the premiere of Name and Number on Saturday 21st May at The Tower Bar in the Engine Shed in Lincoln between 8pm and 10pm. Journalists and photographers are welcome to attend.
