Luxury car brand BMW is to bring out its first ever four-door coupe - and motorists can test drive it ahead of the official launch thanks to a special ‘camouflage’ kit.

The kit disguises the shape of the car, which features the distinctive BMW ‘shark nose’ and bulging wheel arches at the rear, when out on the open road.

The Astle BMW dealership, which has showrooms on Grimsby Road in Laceby and Old Crosby in Scunthorpe, will officially launch the 6 Series Gran Coupe on 2nd June.

The new model, which is the third in the range, has an elegant and sporty appearance of a classic grand tourer with the space and ease of access of an executive saloon. Extensive use of aluminium in the body and chassis reduces weight and ensures that the 6 Series Gran Coupe has the agility and precision expected of a BMW.

Heather Robertson, Marketing Manager for Astle, said: “This is an exciting addition for the discerning driver looking for a luxury car which offers the space modern-day life often requires.

“BMW has done an excellent job combining practicality with the exceptional standards people expect from its cars. Official test drives will be available from 2ndJune but we will be offering people a chance to drive the car before that thanks to some special camouflage we’ve been given.

“The date for this has not yet been set, but if people contact the dealerships and leave their details, we can get back to them and arrange a time.”

The new BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe comes in three versions; the 640i, 640d and 650i M Sport.

All models offer a spacious ride - even with four seats in use the luggage compartment will accommodate two golf bags, while an optional through-loading hatch allows for two pairs of skis to be transported. And like any BMW, the 6 Series Gran Coupe benefits from EfficientDynamics technology including Auto Start-Stop to ensure zero emissions when the car is stationary in traffic.

The new car also comes with the most advanced audio system ever offered in a BMW made by Bang & Olufsen.

The BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe 640i and 640d go on sale on 2nd June, with the 650i expected a month later. Prices start from £61,380 OTR for a 6401 SE, rising to £75,130 OTR for a 650i M Sport.
