News Release

4th April 2012

Waldeck Engineering, which has 10 offices in major town and cities across the UK including Peterborough and London, was one of over 1,500 exhibitors at this year’s Ecobuild.

More than 60,000 visitors attended the event, which is the world’s biggest exhibition for sustainable design, construction and the built environment, at ExCel London between 20th and 22nd March 2012.

It’s the second time that Waldeck has exhibited at Ecobuild and follows the launch of the Waldeck London office in 2011.

Fraser Mercer, Waldeck’s new Managing Director, said: “Ecobuild 2012 was another huge success for Waldeck and enabled us to promote our services to potential clients as well as meet potential suppliers where we can endorse their product. This is particularly useful since winning the Builder & Engineer Consulting Engineer of the Year Award 2011.

“Although we are a multi-disciplinary consulting engineering firm our focus for this year’s show was to raise the profile of our Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Division, promote our precast concrete services and highlight our specialist expertise and proven track record as specialist sustainable design consultants.”

Fraser continued: “Our stand, which was part of the British Precast pavilion, attracted a lot of visitors from the UK and other European countries including Holland and Belgium. We also had some interesting discussions regarding the emerging markets, in particular Brazil, which is now the sixth largest economy in the world and has huge potential for developments around the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™ and Rio 2016™.”

Waldeck is a market leader in sustainable design and one of only a handful of UK civil and structural engineering firms to be qualified and listed on The Green Register of Construction Professionals.

According to Fraser, sustainability is of increasing importance to the construction industry which is why exhibitions such as Ecobuild are so well attended.

“The Building Regulations are constantly being amended and developers need to be certain they are up to date with the latest legislation and advances in technology,” he explained.

“As well as being a great place to network, Ecobuild offers inspiration and practical advice on how to champion sustainability whilst remaining profitable during a period of low economic growth.”
