News Release

13th April

Waldeck Engineering is expanding its operations in the Midlands by opening a new office in Birmingham and exhibiting at Foodex 2012 – one of the UK’s biggest shows for food processing, packaging and logistics.

The new office on Newhall Street in the city will enable the multi-disciplinary firm, which was named Consulting Engineer of the Year at the Builder & Engineer Awards 2011, to expand its operations into the West Midlands.

Waldeck’s Managing Director Fraser Mercer explained: “We already have nine offices in cities across the UK including Nottingham, Lincoln, Sleaford and Northampton and we’ve also recently opened a new office in Birmingham which will enable us to increase our geographical reach to encompass the whole of the Midlands.

“As our presence in the city grows then inevitably it will create local employment opportunities so it’s good news for Waldeck and the city.”

In March Waldeck was one of over 1,200 exhibitors at Foodex, the leading exhibition for anyone working in the UK food and drink manufacturing industry, at the NEC in Birmingham.

For the first time Foodex was held in conjunction with the Food & Drink Expo and the National Convenience Show – allowing Waldeck to promote its expertise and services to a wider audience.

Waldeck Director Andrew Dent, who also heads up the firm’s specialist food division, said: “Although we’re a multi-disciplinary consultant engineering firm our focus for this event was on promoting our expertise in the processing and storage and logistics sectors to producers and distributors who are looking to renovate their current premises or build new facilities. It was our first time at the show and we were really impressed.”

The key to Waldeck’s success in the food industry is the company’s understanding of key industry issues including adaptation to changes in customer, goods, types of product handled and technology; production of high-quality, clean and sterile environments; energy usage; and safety and environmental risk management.

Waldeck operates across the UK and is currently working on a £210 million customer fulfilment centre in Dordon, North Warwickshire for Ocado Group PLC, as well as a £4.6 million distribution centre in Didcot, Oxfordshire for Booker Group PLC.
