Sigma to supply IT system for care

Sigma has signed an agreement with the City of Malmö for the development of a new IT system for care and welfare. The system will ensure more reliable care and higher quality. "This contract gives us an even stronger position within the municipality and the county council, where we already have a large market share," says Jörgen Pålsson, key account manager at Sigma's Kommun & Landsting subsidiary.

The agreement applies to the development of a new administrative system for care and welfare operations in the City of Malmö. The system will provide full coverage and will act as a support for business processing, care planning, care documentation and follow-up work in the areas of care for the elderly and handicapped, as well as the care of the sick in their homes. "The system will offer greater efficiency and facilitate the legally required care documentation, and will contribute in helping all professional categories to handle information more efficiently, in such areas as care planning and patients' health status," says Jörgen Pålsson. This new system will replace the current system in the care and welfare sector in all ten district administrative units in Malmö. "We selected Sigma's system partly because of its operational expertise and ability to develop individually based IT systems," says Harald Nilsson, project leader with the City of Malmö. Last year, Sigma Kommun & Landsting signed an agreement with the City of Stockholm for the Omsorg 2000 information system, which was the largest contract for care systems in Sweden during 1999. Through its contract with the City of Malmö, Sigma has again secured one of the largest care system contracts during 2000. Sigma Kommun & Landsting AB develops and markets information systems for the care sector in Swedish municipalities and counties. Its main products are the Patient 2000 and Omsorg 2000 IT systems, and intranet and Internet systems. The company is based in Malmö.
