Unisys responsibly disposed of more than 1.6 million pounds of IT and electronic equipment last year

Sims Recycling Solutions, a leading provider of global IT asset disposition (ITAD) services, recently presented an award to Unisys Corporation to acknowledge Unisys’ efforts to securely and responsibly dispose of IT and electronic equipment during the 2014 calendar year.

During that time Unisys disposed of more than 1.6 million pounds of end-of-life IT and electronic equipment, which is equivalent to conserving approximately 205,675 gallons of gasoline, removing 411 cars from the road, or planting 47,717 trees. Those efforts not only represented efficient management of IT and electronic devices but also contributed to the security of customer, employee and corporate data.

Unisys has a stated commitment to complying with legislative and regulatory requirements for providing environmentally-sound recovery, recycling and disposal of end-of-life Unisys name-branded electrical and electronic equipment. The company uses Sims Recycling Solutions as the primary service provider for disposal of IT-related items including laptops, monitors, hard drives, servers and telephones.

“We are delighted to acknowledge Unisys for their commitment to conscientious IT asset disposition, because we feel they make strong efforts to do what’s right when it comes to managing their IT assets,” stated Steve Skurnac, president of Sims Recycling Solutions. “Unisys’ dedication of significant corporate resources to guarantee responsible recycling and e-waste disposition helps create jobs, conserves natural resources and reduces carbon emissions.”
