SKF solutions contribute to improved comfort and fuel efficiency in Scania’s new generation of trucks, including the recently launched S-Series

Gothenburg, 8 September 2016: SKF is supplying a range of bearings, seals and linear actuation technologies for Scania’s new generation of trucks. The result of over 10 years of development, during which time SKF has worked in conjunction with Scania on developing tailored solutions, these trucks lower fuel consumption and significantly improve driver comfort.

SKF technologies can be found throughout Scania’s new generation of trucks. These include gearbox bearings, prop-shaft bearings and engine bearings and seals. The tailor-made wind deflector, which uses linear actuation technology to allow for ease of adjustment, is also being supplied by SKF.

SKF is also supplying updated front- and rear-wheel truck hub units, which reduce friction by up to 30%, compared to standard wheel bearing sets.

Stéphane Le Mounier, President, Automotive and Aerospace, says: “Scania and SKF have a long history of collaboration and putting the drivers’ needs in focus. This is once again being manifested in their new generation of trucks, which create a comfortable and safe workplace for drivers, whilst offering haulage firms greater reliability and improved fuel efficiency.”

Deliveries to Scania have already commenced.
