Boca Raton Regional Hospital Hosts Dr. Manish Gupta and Panel to Discuss Anterior Hip Replacement and New VERILAST Technology for Hip Implants
Legendary Football Coach Howard Schnellenberger to present his experience with the Minimally Invasive Procedure
March 6, 2012 Boca Raton, FL—On Wednesday, March 14th at 6:00PM at the Dawson Theater at Boca Raton Regional Hospital, legendary Coach Howard Schnellenberger in collaboration with Smith & Nephew and Dr. Manish Gupta of Sports Orthopedic Center, will host a lecture on the latest advancements in anterior hip replacement surgery.
Schnellenberger who underwent the surgery on the heels of his retirement as head coach of the Florida Atlantic Owl’s Football team, had little time to spare for recovery. Fortunately, he researched his options and sought out Dr. Manish Gupta of Sports Orthopedic Center. Dr. Gupta, a Florida native, has extensive experience performing direct anterior hip replacement. In three short days, Schnellenberger was back in his office and coaching the Owl’s.
The procedure avoids the muscle being detached from the pelvis or the femur during surgery. Direct anterior hip replacement allows patients to immediately bend their hip freely and bear full weight when comfortable, resulting in a more rapid return to normal function.
